Forum is a place to communicate with other people and find new friends which have same interest with us.The purpose of building a forum actually depend on the owner it self either for hobby or commercial purpose.Some of people building forum for hobby but when there are many people start coming to their forum they start change the function of their forum to commercial purpose.And some of them build forum for commercial purpose that is for generate income purpose.However it is up to you for what purpose you want to build your forum.
